WHAT ARE SCOUTS?

​Scouts is for boys and girls aged between 10.5 and 14 years.  At Upton Scouts, we organise a range of activities that allow you to:

Every week, in Patrols, we take part in a number of interesting and challenging activities – achieving lots and having a great deal of fun along the way.

WHO ARE OUR LEADERS?

The Scout Section is led by trained adult volunteers who are on hand to share their skills and keep everyone safe. Traditionally, Scout leaders use their real names. Within the section, Scouts are part of a Patrol (smaller groups of Scouts who look out for one another and help each other grow). Scouts usually gather in their Patrols at the beginning and end of meetings. They might also work together on expeditions or trips away, or during certain activities.​ Listed below are our Scout leaders and assistants.


HOW ARE SCOUTS ORGANISED?

​The Scout Section has four patrols, each with an assistant leader. Each patrol has its own identity and competes to be the best in the section. We award points throughout each term for how well tasks are done, with a prize at the end of the term to the Patrol with the most points. Shown below are the Upton Scout Patrols, showing the current points score for each patrol for this term.


WHAT DO WE WEAR?

Scouts wear a uniform during their weekly meetings and sometimes on trips away, depending on where they are going and what they are doing. Usually, this consists of a teal green shirt or blouse with their badges sewn on, which they pair with a scarf, known as a necker.  Neckers are provided when you are invested into the Scout Group.  With your shirts, you wear casual trousers during the week but may need to wear smart trousers or skirt for special occasions like awards ceremonies and public events.


Uniforms can be purchased from the Scout Shop in Worcester.

Wearing a uniform is practical. It means you can run around and get messy without ruining your own clothes. It makes you feel part of a team. It means no one feels uncomfortable or left out. And it gives you a place to show off all the badges you earn.
